About Anna

Hello! I am so happy you are here, and very pleased to meet you. I am Anna Hodges Oginsky, Heart Connected Founder, Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT), mixed media artist, mom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Really, I'm just a girl who loves to play, to learn, to grow, and to share.

After the unexpected death of my father in 2010, I rediscovered the healing power of writing and collage, practices I had enjoyed in the past, but rarely pursued in the chaos of taking care of my three children. As I worked through my grief, I reconnected with my heart and all the dreams buried there.
I believe my dad, who was an artist, musician, advocate for peace and love, and a free spirited guy, is helping to guide me along this path from his cloud in heaven. Since his death, I have found that living from my heart and staying true to who I am, as my dad did in his life, is absolutely liberating. In the craziness of the world in which we live, I think it is important for all of us to make time to connect to our hearts and the wisdom and truth we hold there.
One of my life's missions is to help people access what seems inaccessible. Practices like art and meditation are so powerfully healing, and yet seem so allusive to many of us. Constructs like being happy and making dreams come true sometimes sound like fantasies most of us won't bring to life. The truth is we are all artists and we meditate in many different ways throughout the course of our days. We also have every right to be happy and to pursue our dreams. I founded Heart Connected to provide opportunities for people to connect to their heart’s desires by making art. Both Zentangle and Mixed Media art lend themselves to getting lost in the process of creating, which allows us to hear only what matters - the truth that resides in our hearts. I teach classes and facilitate workshops and retreats in and around Brighton, Michigan.

I love words and creating things that combine words with images, as I find this sort of art deeply inspiring, usually a little funky, and really pretty too.
I live in Brighton, Michigan with my husband, our three children, and our great big dog.
